We are very proud to have over 30 members of staff, including skilled trades, experienced managers, and head office staff, who are all passionate about the business and play an integral role in contributing to its ongoing success.
We believe investing in our workforce is essential in retaining our valued staff and attracting prospective employees. That’s why we encourage continuous development amongst existing staff during yearly performance reviews, and support those who wish to expand their knowledge and progress their career. Many of our time served trades people have gained site management and supervisory qualifications, and we are excited to be working alongside local colleges to support our apprentices in successfully completing their apprenticeships.
Led by the our professional team of directors, contract managers and qualified construction professionals. SJJ bring both a wide breadth of knowledge and have a real passion for the business’ success, which can be filtered down to the workforce.
Our Site Teams are made up of our Skilled Tradespersons, Site Managers and Supervisors, working across our new build and refurbishment sites. They all hold the relevant industry qualifications, which are thoroughly checked upon joining the company. With many years of service between them, we trust them to uphold the standards of workmanship set by the company and its clients.
Head Office Team
Our Head Office, in Widnes is the centre of operations and the base for our professional team, including Company Directors, Quantity Surveyors, Estimators and Contracts Managers coordinating onsite activities. Our office team also include dedicated accounts, procurement, HR teams assisting in ensuring the smooth operation of the business. They are likely to be the voice at the end of the phone, answering any questions or enquiries you may have, and are always happy to help!
10% of our workforce is currently made up of apprentices, including Apprentice Bricklayers and Electricians who work alongside our established trades. Working closely with local colleges such as Riverside and St Helens College, our apprentices will attend the campus’ to work towards their qualification and build their portfolio.
Apprenticeship programmes provide great, hands on experience for those entering the world of work, or looking for a change in career, allowing people to earn whilst completing an industry recognised qualification. We have many skilled and dedicated employees on hand to pass on their years of knowledge and experience, assisting us in growing fresh talent.
We aim to provide the most positive experience for all our apprentices, leaving them with the correct knowledge and practical experience to kick start their career.

I never really enjoyed traditional education and always preferred more practical and hands on learning. I wanted to earn an income and an apprenticeship allows me to do that whilst training, providing me with real working experience. I enjoy the working environment at SJJ, being around other people and having a laugh with colleagues whilst tackling different challenges together.
One of the best parts of being an Apprentice Bricklayer is looking back at the end of each day, and looking at the progress we have made throughout the day. I would recommend apprenticeships to others, especially those who are interested in a career in construction
